Hey guys! Homework time.
We’re all fans of animation. I’m curious though: what’s your favorite piece of animation? That one bit, be it long and involved, short and sweet, elaborate or subtle, that inspires you.
Let me know, and I’ll post the most insightful responses. It’s fun to see what other people like, and to be reminded of work you’d forgotten about. This kind of discussion is not only interesting, but can help us all understand animation a bit better.

Tarzan, when he’s following the sound of the gunshot for the first time. The two or three seconds before he finds a shell on the ground, he swings from a vine and lands. How his body shifts weight, how the shapes work together… You can just tell Glen Keane animated it; there’s so much life and fluidity in those few seconds of movement.
Also, Pocahontas, when she says, “What’s it like?” to John Smith when he says he lives in a city. She very girlishly folds her arm and puts her hand to her neck. idk I can’t really describe it, it’s just such a believable gesture.
Really anything Glen Keane animates is my favorite.

Watching the Colors of the Wind scene in Pocahontas

  • Me in 1995: Wow she's teaching John Smith so much about nature
  • Me in 2012: How the fuck does she understand let alone sing in English
